The space between the inhale and its exhale is the space of autumn equinox. The fullness of life surrendered to release, in perfect balance between its fullness and its release.
The world at large and at home is in chaos. And yet, that stillness of the pause between the full breath in the lungs and release is available to all.
Whatever happened to you on that day, Monday, is information about the balance of life and dark in your life as a result of your choices throughout the summer and last winter (as well as the layers of choices before that, of course).
For me in my professional life, it was the balance of all the darknesses and learning experiences (to include mistakes and sheer ignorance) of my career as an employee working for someone and with someone.
I wrote some of the wisdom I have gained from reflecting about that here. Suffice it to say that the balancing act of when to speak up, who to speak to, and what to say is a challenging one to develop sthira and sukha in one’s character (firmness and spaciousness…like a forest, loamy rich earth, delightful interweavings of growth rising up).
I would love to hear what balancing of light and dark, fullness of oxygen received and surrendered, facing one’s sins with grace/forgiveness, facing one’s bountiful harvest with equanimity and honesty, etc, looked like for you this equinox. What occurred the few days leading up to, and days winding down from? Are you proud of yourself? Struggling? Let’s reframe our lives to make the events of them more beautiful and meaningful together.
